With the arrival of the new 3D PVC Lobsters which I must say were more detailed than I had expected and certainly nice and tough but still very soft to the touch, it was time to get on the water of the North East coast and really put them through their paces over the rough ground it has to offer targeting Cod and Pollack. A great feature with these Lobsters is they have a pre-made hole on the underside through the whole body down to the tail if you want to rig them on a weighted jig head or as I do simply hook them on a 4/0 hook with the hook point coming out the head end either trailed behind a sinker weight or as tested them out on a 2 hook feather style setup with great effect. Reason behind the hook point coming through the head end of the Lobster is to present them as natural as possible as when under attack they swim backwards. Once I was on the marks it didn't take long for the fish to start hitting them, allowing the weight to hit the bottom and while on the steady drift all that was needed was small gentle jabs with the rod tip to add a little swim effect to them which is exactly the same as you can do if trailing them behind a sinker weight. On slack water casting them away from the boat and allowing them to hit the bottom with a gentle jabbing retrieve over the rough ground took fish aswel. Size wise they have been made similar to size of Lobsters found in the fish when gutting them so again giving them more or less what they feed on every day, another great feature of these Lobsters is how soft and durable they really are, taking fish after fish on the same lure and showing no signs of wear which on most hook ups the Lobster was either inside or on the outside of the mouth with the hook set perfect, spec on them is 95mm 13g each lobster and available in 5 popular colours ranging from red to luminous, I think it's fair to say the proof is in the pudding with these little 3D Lobsters and have been a real game changer for me when other lures have gone past fish unnoticed.
